RangerACE 2020
Community Empowerment Grant
RangerACE will be making one-time grants of up to $1000 to fund selected community empowerment projects by children ages 12-18 in central Texas! We know this is a difficult time for everyone, but we also believe that the youth of central Texas has what it takes to brighten their communities.
Want to be a part of this project? Here’s how:
Step 1
Identify an area of need in your community.
For example: Seniors in nursing homes who are isolated and feel lonely during the COVID epidemic.
Step 2
Brainstorm ideas for how you can help with this need.
For example: I could make care packages including handwritten letters, puzzles and colored pencils, and deliver them to 3 nursing homes in my community.
Step 3
Make a plan. Be specific!
For example: I contacted 4 nursing homes about my idea, and 3 of them agreed to accept my care packages and pass them out to residents. Each nursing home has around 30 residents, so I will need to make 90 care packages. I will purchase puzzles, colored pencils, and stationery at Walmart, and my friends Shelby and Jeremy agreed to each write 30 handwritten notes. We will work together Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 5-8pm to complete the notes and assemble the packages. My mother agreed to take the completed packages every Saturday morning to the nursing homes. The project will take us approximately 3 weeks to complete. Each puzzle costs 3.65 with tax and the colored pencils are $3.30 with tax per package. The stationery is $6.22 per package and we will need 4 of them. We will use brown bags that I already have in my cabinet. I will need $650.38 total for this project.
Safety first! Include your plan for keeping yourself and others safe during this project.
For example: I will wear a mask and wash my hands when I am outside of my home during this project. I will also maintain social distancing where possible. The nursing home will wait 24 hours before passing out the care packages to ensure safety for their residents.
Step 4
Complete your proposal, which must include the following:
An essay explaining the need in your community, and how your plan will address this need.
Should be in the form of a Word document.
If you are 12-13 years old, this must be 500+ words. 14-15 years old, 750+ words. 16-18 years old, 1000+ words.
Must answer the following questions:
Why is this project needed?
Who will this project help? Who will help you complete this project?
When will you complete this project, and how long will it take you to complete?
Where will this project take place?
How will you complete the project?
How will you keep yourself and others safe during your project?
A budget that lists supplies and their costs, as well as the total cost of the project.
Should be in the form of an Excel Spreadsheet.
Step 5
When you are finished, submit your proposal below. Remember, you will not be able to edit your proposal after submission.
