2018 DAY 5: Striping and Go-Karts
The final day of camp was a culmination of the week, as after getting to paint their pads campers got to ask any unanswered questions to all the RangerACE Pros that came throughout the week and spend the afternoon racing go-karts off the pads that they created.
After observing RangerACE Pro Jorge Ortega’s team complete the final grading of their racing pads, the great folks at Stripe It Up arrived to help campers paint their pads.
Although Stripe It Up largely uses motorized bikes equipped with striping equipment when making lines, their team helped to teach campers the proper way to make clean, even lines with spray paint canisters. Campers were able to choose the colors of their pad, as well as any of the provided stencils that they wanted to use to really make their pad uniquely their own.
While the paint dried, campers headed inside to learn more about career opportunities in construction and prepare questions for the panel of Pros that were returning for a Q&A at lunch.
Mark McKenzie, Bill Blasé, Kenneth Popham, and Nathan Ziehr all joined the campers for lunch, where campers got to learn more about how the Pros fell in love with their job, how they got to where they are now, what some of their favorite projects were, and so on.
After lunch, campers got the rest of the afternoon to enjoy the fruits of their labor and race go-karts!
RangerACE would like to sincerely thank all of the campers and Pros for making the first year of camp such a resounding success. We look forward to making camp even better for next year!
